My personal experience with a bad actor’s purposeful abuses of his own civil liberties to weaponize court and municipal systems led me to advocate for wider knowledge and protections for those less fortunate than I was. Testifying before a room of Connecticut lawmakers in 2019 was a turning point in my life, which catalyzed the efforts of many, that helped shape Jennifer’s Law. I helped influence the law to be criminal, not civil and even authored sections of the proposed bill which was signed into law by Gov Lamont July 2021.
